Md. Abdullah Sharif, a distinguished figure in the realm of Islamic finance, currently holds pivotal roles as the Secretary General of the Central Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB), Besides, he is a First Vice President at City Bank PLC., Member of Islamic Banking Act Legislation Committee of BRPD, Bangladesh Bank, Member of AAOIFI Education Board, Bahrain. He is also proud of being a 1st time introducer of CIPA, CSAA fellowship of AAOIFI in Bangladesh, etc. His professional journey, spanning over two decades, reflects a commitment to excellence, leadership, and a deep understanding of Islamic banking principles.

Mr. Sharif, a three-time elected Secretary General of CSBIB, has over 22 years of experience in the Islamic banking industry. His career trajectory includes six years in branch banking activities, focusing on investment and general banking services. For the past 16 years, he has held significant positions such as Head Muraqib, Member Secretary of Shariah Supervisory Committee, and Head of Shariah in various Shariah-based banks and financial institutions.

Abdullah's expertise encompasses a wide array of skills, including the efficient maintenance of Shariah secretariats, facilitating Shariah Supervisory Committee meetings, liaison with management and Shariah scholars, and monitoring and mentoring Shariah audits. He has played a crucial role in Islamic banking product, policy, and process development, showcasing a deep understanding of Fiqh-al-Muamalat (Islamic Commercial jurisprudence) and Maqasid al-Shariah. His proficiency extends to delivering training, workshops, and lectures on Islamic banking and finance, with a specialization in Sukuk. Abdullah is trilingual, fluent in English, Arabic, and Bengali in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Abdullah's notable roles include his current position as Secretary General at CSBIB, where he was elected by a consortium of 29-member institutions. Additionally, his tenure at City Bank PLC has seen him contribute significantly as the Member Secretary of the Shariah Supervisory Committee and Vice President & Head of Shariah Secretariat.

Abdullah holds diverse academic qualifications, including an MPhil, MBA with a major in HRM, MA in Islamic Studies, and Kamil MA in Hadith. Abdullah has earned certifications as a Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA) and a Certified Shariah Advisor and Auditor (CSAA) from the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) in 2020.

Abdullah has contributed to several publications, edited books, reviewed publications, and served as a training provider for various institutions, including the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) and Islami Bank Training and Research Academy (IBTRA).
